Preschool Ice Skating Lessons

By Evaun Mari Milne

Buy at Art.comWhether your preschooler has aspirations of being a figure skater or hockey player, s/he need to start at the begining. Ice skating is a great activity for active preschoolers to become engaged in. And the lessons at Highland Ice Arena start with the very basics, like standing up and falling down, and progress to the more advanced steps, making it a perfect place to learn. With your preschooler enrolled in a class with other preschoolers it becomes a fun learning experience.

Information About Highland Ice Arena Ice Skating Lessons

Buy at Art.comSmall class sizes. They break the classes down so your preschooler is always with children his/her own age. Preschoolers are learning with other preschoolers, and the older beginners have their own class, so there is no intimidation about getting on the ice with big kids.

Classes are a half hour long. Students are on the ice, so dress your preschooler warm and in layers. Because preschoolers will be moving, they will get warm, then you can remove layers. You do not want your preschooler to get to hot on the ice either, because sweat and ice makes for chills. Be sure to put gloves or mittens on, at this stage they will fall often. I also suggest a helmet if your preschooler doesn't have a good sense of balance yet.

The class sessions last 8 weeks. You can start at any time throughout the session. You do not have to wait for the session to begin. Rates will be pro-rated if you join after the session has began.

Sessions cost $62.50 for 8 classes, and skate rental is $22.00. They do prefer if you pre-register.

I recommend purchasing your own ice skates if your preschooler ends up taking more than one session. You can find decent used pairs at Play It Again Sports and on ebay for around $20. Ask your instructor about skates if you have any questions.
