Celebrate Hanukkah at the Stroum Jewish Community Center

Chanukah Still Life

by Pam Koons

Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, has been celebrated by families around the world for over 2,000 years. At the Stroum Jewish Community Center, preschoolers and their families celebrate Hanukkah’s Festival of Lights with many wonderful events, food, crafts, games, and music. Come honor the spirit of the Jewish people by joining the Seattle community for a special day of celebrating and feasting!

What Preschoolers will Enjoy about the Stroum Hanukkah Celebration

Preschoolers will gather together for special Hanukkah activities such as making their own ceramic dreidles (spinning tops), building candy menorahs (candleholders), listening to Jewish storytelling, participating in Hanukkah games, face painting and much more. Kid’s Quest Museum will be providing arts and crafts projects for your preschooler to enjoy making.

What Parents will Enjoy about the Stroum Hanukkah Celebration

No Hanukkah community-wide celebration would be complete without traditional fried potato latkes, chunky applesauce, Star of David cookies, and other festive Jewish foods just waiting for a hungry preschooler. Watch for the food booths that serve lunch and snacks.

Make sure to take a look at the Hanukkah gift bazaar to purchase beautifully hand-crafted holiday gift items from local craftspeople. Your preschooler can take part in the community-wide traditional candle-lighting ceremony, and afterwards, listen to local Jewish bands.

The Stroum Hanukkah Celebration is for all families, of all faiths. The center enthusiastically encourages non-Jewish families to come learn about their faith while enjoying this centuries-old Jewish holiday tradition.
