Bay Pavilion Carousel

by Pam Koons

Is it just for Seattle tourists, or is it also an activity for low-cost preschooler fun? Either way, don’t miss out on an authentic carousel ride at Pier 57’s Bay Pavilion. Tucked away by the water, your preschooler will delight in riding any one of thirty beautifully decorated carousel horses with colorful lights and music! Spend a great time down at Seattle's waterfront with your preschooler!

What Preschoolers will Love about Bay Pavilion Carousel

There is something magical about riding on a vintage carousel!
Your preschooler will love holding on, hearing traditional carousel music, and watching all the dancing lights! Who doesn’t like hot buttered popcorn and heavenly cotton candy? The yummy smell alone will lead the way to the carousel.

For an extra-special time, take your preschooler for a trolley ride on Seattle's Waterfront Street Car, dated back to 1925-1930! These street cars run right out front on Alaskan Way and are operated by King County Metro.

What Parents will Love about Bay Pavilion Carousel

This is low-cost entertainment at its best!
Often the attendants will let preschoolers ride more than once for the price of one, if it’s not busy. The Bay Pavilion also hosts great birthday parties for preschoolers! Read more about birthday parties here

Look for unique restaurants and unusual stores.
If on the go- try the Alaskan Sourdough Bakery (sandwich style food- delicious bread), or Red Robin’s (great menu) for more of a sit-down lunch.

What Parents Should Know about Bay Pavilion Carousel

The carousel goes 'round and 'round and up and down.
Your preschooler may or may not like this sensation, so use good judgment. There are also sleighs that preschoolers (and parents) can sit on for less motion.

The best time to ride the carousel with a preschooler is weekdays.
The busiest times at night and during the summer months. Note- the carousel is next to a small arcade, but it doesn’t appear very visible from the carousel. There is on-street metered parking available, but if staying for more than an hour, try one of the many lots across the street.
