60 Acres Park
5-4-3-2-1 Lift-off! Watch out for low flying airplanes, homemade rockets and hot air balloons! Preschoolers will delight in watching the many regular flying activities taking place at 60 Acres Park in the Seattle eastside suburb of Redmond. This little known park is also home to youth baseball and 18 soccer fields.
What Preschoolers Will Enjoy about 60 Acres Park
If your preschooler has a fascination for flying machines, h/she will have fun checking out the activities of these “flying groups" that frequent the fields. Call or email them for times and current details:
US Boomerang Team
Boeing Hawks RC Flyers
Northwest Rocketry
Seattle Area Soaring Society
Kites are also another flying staple at 60 Acres Park, so pack up your preschooler, add a picnic lunch, bring your kite, and spend the day playing up in the air.
The Sammamish Slough borders the park, so have your preschooler bring some day-old bread to feed the ducks and geese. Walk down the marked trail where you’ll find them bathing by the Sammamish Slough.
What Parents Will Enjoy About 60 Acres Park
The Eastside’s Burke-Gilman trail shares the park’s south boundaries along side of the Sammamish Slough, and provides the pathway down to the water where the ducks live. There are a few picnic tables here, too- but not many. There is plenty of open grassy space to run, run, run, and to play off all that extra energy that preschoolers have! If you come on a non-game day- you will virtually have the park to yourselves.
The Burke-Gilman trail also has a dirt path for horseback riding and biking. If your preschooler is ready for hiking, the Burke Gilman trail provides some of County’s nicest walking paths and trails.
What Parents Should know About 60 Acres Park
